YouTube Username Checker
Look up public YouTube handles, check a list, or generate name variations. Confirm availability in YouTube Studio.
A missing public page does not guarantee availability. Results may be cached for one hour. Latin handles only: 3-30 characters. Confirm in YouTube.
A closer look
Look up a public YouTube handle, check up to ten candidates, or generate variations of a name. A handle starts with @ and is distinct from a channel display name. Display names do not have to be unique.
What each result means
| Result | Interpretation | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Channel found | The returned page contains recognizable channel metadata. | Choose another candidate or inspect the existing channel. |
| Not found | YouTube returned a missing public page. | Confirm in Studio; the handle may be reserved, restricted or otherwise unclaimable. |
| Unknown | The request failed, was blocked, or returned an unrecognized page. | Retry later or check directly in YouTube. |
Results may be cached for up to one hour. This tool cannot reserve a handle or guarantee that YouTube will accept it.
How to use the lookup
- Enter the handle without a full channel URL.
- Review the result and any error message.
- Use the Bulk tab to compare up to ten names.
- Use the Suggest tab for suffix and number variations, then confirm your choice in YouTube Studio.
The checker currently supports Latin letters, numbers, periods, underscores and hyphens. Use 3-30 characters, with a letter or number at each end. YouTube supports additional scripts with different rules, which this checker does not yet validate.
How name suggestions work
Suggestions combine your base name with a fixed set of suffixes, digits and the current year. They are rule-based variations. Each valid suggestion is checked against public pages. A candidate with no public page still needs confirmation in Studio.
Example workflow
For an illustrative brand named GardenNotes, you could compare GardenNotes, GardenNotesDaily and GardenNotesTV. These are examples, not availability claims. Prefer a name that matches your content and is easy for your audience to type. Keep a second choice in case your first cannot be claimed.
Why a lookup may be inconclusive
YouTube can change its page format, restrict automated requests or temporarily fail. The tool reports these cases as unknown instead of assuming a name is available. If a cached result differs from Studio, use Studio's result.
